We build all three — fiberglass, gunite and vinyl liner — plus insulated pools, so we don’t have a horse in this race. Here’s how we actually walk families through the choice.
Fiberglass: the fast track
A fiberglass pool is a one-piece shell, molded and finished at the factory, then set in your yard — the fastest inground install of the three. The gelcoat surface is smooth, non-porous and stingy with chemicals. The trade-off: you choose from engineered shapes rather than drawing your own. With 35+ designs in our catalog, most families find their shape anyway.
Best for: families who want to swim this season, predictable pricing, and low day-to-day upkeep.
Gunite: the blank canvas
Gunite is concrete applied over steel, formed in place — any shape, any depth, attached spas, vanishing edges, the works. It’s the most custom and most involved build, with interior finishes of plaster, pebble or fiberglass. It takes longer and the price follows the design.
Best for: one-of-a-kind visions, complex features and true resort builds.
Vinyl liner: the sensible path
Vinyl liner pools are the most budget-friendly true inground option, and far more customizable than people expect — shapes, sizes, dozens of liner patterns, plus steps, benches and raised walls. The liner itself is a wear item you’ll eventually replace, which is also what keeps the entry price down.
Best for: getting a real inground pool on a family budget without a plain result — some of our favorite waterfall builds are vinyl.
The Oklahoma factor
Our soil moves and our seasons swing, and each type answers differently: fiberglass flexes, gunite relies on its engineered shell and steel, and liner pools take shifting in stride. Site prep matters more than pool type — which is why we scope every yard in person before quoting.
